Drei Linden
Where the village road of Schwendau meets the linden road, there are three old linden trees, under which
a crucifix with a stone altar was erected. A bronze plaque is attached to the stone, the text of which reads:
“Meeting place of the Zillertal people of the former Salzburg Urbaramt and the former Hauptmannschaft Schwendau
(14th-19th century)’. As state archive director Hofrat Dr. Eduard Widmoser states on the basis of in-depth studies
This was the site of the court hearings of the Schwendauer Urbaramt or the later Hauptmannschaft.
Here disputes between the native peoples over their land ownership, e. g. over the autonomous transfer of the
marks, due to overbuilding, overfencing, overmowing and overmaisen, i. e. crossing one's own property when
