Attraction Fortress Schlosskopf

High above Reutte in the Schlosskopf Fortress, it is easily accessible—with no barriers—via the two inclined elevators, the Ehrenberg Liner and the Top-Liner. The history of the site is presented interactively through informational displays.

Description

In 1703, the recapture of Ehrenberg began from Schlosskopf. But it was not until 1733 that construction of the fortress began; it was completed in 1741 according to the most advanced military principles of the time. For just 41 years—during which this massive fortress never gained any significance—it stood, until it was abandoned in 1782, like all other structures, and slowly fell into ruin. Even today, the imposing ruins still give a sense of the fortress that was considered impregnable in its day.

The new themed trail at Schlosskopf, for example, takes visitors past all the historical fortress elements, which are explained by informational signs, and makes the fortress in the Ehrenberg Castle World accessible to people with limited mobility. The elevation difference from the Ehrenberger Klause can be comfortably and barrier-free overcome using the two inclined elevators, the Ehrenberg Liner and the Top-Liner.
