Gmünder Seemeile Gerlos

From the center of Gerlos, one walks along the romantic forest path beside the Gerlos Stream to Gerlos-Gmünd until reaching Hotel Kröller.

Description

First, you cross the road and follow the path up to the Hotel Almhof. Continue along the single-lane road that leads past the Hotel Almhof until you reach the junction towards 'Seemeile'. The descent to the dam requires some caution, so good footwear is recommended. After a short tunnel section, the return path leads along the picturesque shore of the Gmünder Stausee. Once you reach the Hotel Kröller, you continue the hike along the Gerlosbach and return to Gerlos.

In 2025, the Zillertal artist HAKI created six installations that now make up the stations of the round trail "Joy of Life". They invite you to pause and deeply immerse yourself in the beautiful nature of the Gmünder Stausee. The individual stations bring smiles to both children and adults alike.

When you set off, after passing the dam, you will go through the Jodler Tunnel, and can take a break shortly afterwards to enjoy your snack, try to see how well you can balance, and give yourself a smile in a mirror a few meters further. Then you discover an oversized, colorful hammock, from which you can observe the flow of the clouds when you lie down, before you can ring small bells in the petting zoo. At the individual stations, you will find panels with poetic texts that make the experience even more captivating.
