Attraction Maria Hilf Chapel

Tannheim

The Maria-Hilf-Chapel in Bogen

Description

The reason for its construction was the "black plague" that raged in Tannheim in 1635. The chapel was built in 1649 and was consecrated together with the high altar in 1685. The chapel with its shingle-roofed onion tower has a spacious interior and uniform altar furnishings from around 1680. The shrine-shaped high altar contains a statue of the Virgin Mary with Child in its central niche.
