Ötztal Museums - Turmmuseum
The Turmmuseum Oetz is a special cultural site in the center of the municipality of Oetz. Housed in the historic tower, it impressively combines history, architecture, and contemporary art. The museum presents changing exhibitions with regional relevance and creates an exciting dialogue between the past and the present.
In the Middle Ages, the "tower" served as a residence for a local noble family amidst the settlement of farms. In modern times, it was the administrative seat of the estates of the Frauenchiemsee monastery in the Ötztal.
After many decades of diverse use by the municipality of Oetz, the building was thoroughly renovated and finally opened as a museum in 2004. Shortly thereafter, the Turmmuseum was awarded the Tyrolean Museum Prize 2004.
A special sign of its commitment is the award of the Austrian Environmental Label to the Turmmuseum Oetz. This recognition emphasizes the responsible use of resources, sustainable organizational structures, and a clear commitment to environmentally conscious actions in cultural operations.
Thus, the Turmmuseum Oetz stands not only for cultural diversity and quality but also for sustainable thinking and action – a forward-looking cultural space with a responsibility for the environment and society.
