Description

Pilgrimage church dedicated to the Holy Virgin Mary

The small church is located on a rock high above the entrance to the Zillertal Valley. The name "Brettfall" could either derive from the Latin "super vallem" (above the valley) or from the Latin words "prae vallum" (in front of the rampart). Both interpretations lead back to Roman times.

The Lourdes grotto, which has been embedded in the rock behind the church for many years, was renovated by the marksmen in 1980.
More details about the history, art, legends, and stories about the hermits of Maria Brettfall can be found in the guide "Pilgrimage Church Maria Brettfall".

Holy Mass is held once a month on a Sunday at 3:00 PM (according to the service schedule in Strass i.Z.) On the remaining Sundays, there is a rosary or devotion at 3:00 PM.
