Description

A film by Massoud Bakshi

Growing up as a girl in Tehran, Iran: For eighteen years, Massoud Bakhshi has accompanied his two nieces with his camera. The children become teenagers, whose everyday lives are increasingly determined by rules, prohibitions, and questions about freedom. Looking back at their childhood from the present, the questions seem larger and clearer than ever. "All My Sisters" discusses female self-determination and political resistance in Iran, showing how contradictions quietly, insidiously, and very personally take shape. What does their future look like in today's Iranian society?

"This feminist coming-of-age story is a captivating and subtly subversive blend of the personal and the political." The Film Verdict

"ALL MY SISTERS is not only a deeply personal family story and a political narrative connected to the historical 'Women, Life, Freedom' protests in Iran in 2022, but also an unflinching look at the ethics of documentary filmmaking." Variety
