It is one of the more challenging cycling races in the Alps: the Arlberg Giro, which starts in St. Anton. There are 150 kilometers and around 2,500 meters of altitude to conquer.
The route of the Arlberg Giro offers the kind of ups and downs that ambitious racing cyclists love: From St. Anton, the route first climbs up to the Arlberg Pass, then through the Klostertal valley down to Bludenz, into the Montafon valley, over the Bieler Höhe into the Paznaun valley and finally back to St. Anton via Pians.
The fastest rider to reach the highest point of the route, the Bieler Höhe at 2,032 meters above sea level, is awarded the coveted title of "King/Queen of the Mountain" in the mountain classification there.
