Célia Oneto Bensaid and the Saitton Quartet perform compositions by Philip Glass live at the Kufstein Music School. The American composer and musician Philip Glass is considered one of the most important pioneers of minimal music. Glass is regarded as one of the most prolific composers of our time: In recent decades, he has composed more than twenty operas, ten symphonies, two piano concertos, and concerts for violin and saxophone quartet. In addition, there are film scores, string quartets, and music for solo piano. Three of his film compositions were nominated for an Oscar. In 2027, he will celebrate his 90th birthday. Saitton, under the direction of Bahram Pietsch, plays compositions for string quartet by Philip Glass. The French star pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid is one of the most renowned classical pianists in France and began playing the piano at the age of 6. After graduating from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris with five first prizes awarded with the highest distinctions, she then entered the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where she received the Diplôme Supérieur de Concertiste. Today, she carefully selects repertoires on the most prestigious stages: American music (including her own transcriptions), French music, contemporary works, and music by female composers play a significant role in her programs. Her discography, which includes a total of 19 albums (Johann Sebastian Bach, Sergei Prokofiev, Franz Liszt, Clara Schumann, among others) and has received numerous awards, reflects her favorite repertoire: After the album American Touches, which focused on Bernstein and Gershwin, came Metamorphosis with works by Glass, Pépin, and Ravel, as well as "Echoes" featuring works by Philip Glass.
