Two World Championships, two tracks, one shared stage: In Innsbruck-Igls, the world’s top luge athletes come together against a backdrop of Olympic history and the Tirolean mountains.
Innsbruck-Igls is set to become the international hub of the luge world, bringing together the World Championships in Olympic luge and alpine luge at a single venue for the first time. On the historic Olympic ice track, the world’s elite Olympic lugers will compete for the world championship titles. In alpine luge, a section of the historic 1964 Olympic course will be brought back to life. Thus, the dual World Championships combine the high-speed thrills of the ice track with the technically demanding challenges of alpine luge—all against the backdrop of the impressive Tirolean mountains.
