The Gauder Fest in Zillertal is one of the oldest folk festivals in Austria. With traditional parades, authentic music and regional Gauder beer, it stands for living Tyrolean culture.
You rarely see so many lederhosen, jackets and Tyrolean hats: the Gauder Fest in Zell am Ziller is the largest spring and traditional costume festival in Austria and takes place every year on the first weekend in May. Thousands of visitors celebrate with traditional beer tapping, live music, Ranggel competitions and the largest traditional costume parade in the country. The festival is all about living customs and was recognized as an intangible UNESCO cultural heritage site in 2014. It unites folk culture, conviviality and regional identity in a unique way. There is a colourful programme for young and old on the fairground, sports field and pavilion square every day.
