Kitzbühel is getting a women's tennis tournament. In the week before the Generali Open, a WTA event will take place for the first time in over 30 years.
After a 33-year break, the ladies will return to Kitzbühel in the summer with a WTA-125 tournament. From July 13 to July 19, matches will be held at the Kitzbühel Tennis Club, continuing a tradition that existed from 1945 to 1993, shaped by great names like Billie Jean King. The first Austrian fixed players for the Generali Open Ladies Kitzbühel have already been confirmed: With Sinja Kraus and Julia Grabher, two local players are confirmed for the WTA-125 tournament. The two wildcards have also been awarded: they go to the local talent Ekaterina Perelygina and the young Tyrolean Anna Pircher.
The finals of the ladies will take place in parallel to the men's qualification of the Generali Open Kitzbühel – fans can thus look forward to high-class tennis for two tournament weeks.
