Event Großglockner Ultra Trail

The Ultra Trail around the Großglockner is one of the toughest mountain races. The alpine scenery also makes it one of the most beautiful trail running experiences.

Description

Every year, top international runners put their skills to the test at the Großglockner Ultra Trail. The course consists mainly of singletrack trails that cross the Alps through three federal states, seven valleys, and six towns. The mountain panorama, at over 3,000 meters above sea level, features 14 glaciers and 300 peaks.

There are four routes to choose from. The most challenging, the Großglockner Ultra Trail—which must be completed within 30 hours—circles the Großglockner. The start and finish are in Kaprun. With its 110 kilometers and 6,500 meters of elevation gain, it demands the highest level of physical and mental endurance as well as extensive alpine experience. The East Tyrol Trail is 84 kilometers long and covers 5,000 meters of elevation gain from Enzinger Boden to Kaprun.

On the Großglockner Trail, participants cover 57 kilometers and 3,500 meters of elevation gain from Kals am Großglockner to Kaprun in a maximum of 16 hours. The Weissee Glacier World Trail must be completed within 12 hours. It covers 37 kilometers and 1,500 meters of elevation gain from Enzinger Boden to Kaprun.

Children can participate in the Mini GGUT, which is divided into two races (1 kilometer and 3.1 kilometers) for two different age groups.
