In cold temperatures, we are happy for the furry companions, which we can warm ourselves with again and again. Together with "Lamapapa" Hans, we enjoy hiking on the Wattenberg and delight in the spectacular view over the Inn Valley. Let's go!
Llamas originate from the South American Andes. In Tyrol, they became established due to enthusiastic keepers. Among the pioneers is Josef "Lama-Joe" Thöni, who started keeping and breeding them in the 1990s. His first two llamas came from Carinthia.
From the enthusiasm for the animals, breeding operations and offers for llama trekking developed. Today, the sure-footed Andes animals also accompany hikes through the Tyrolean mountain landscape, such as on Wattenberg.
