Event Hannibal

Sölden, on 10. Apr 2026

Hannibal's historic crossing of the Alps will be staged for the 25th time this year on the Rettenbachferner as a modern open-air theater of superlatives. In the midst of the Ötztal mountains, dance, extreme sports and an impressive light show merge into a total work of art at over 3,000 meters above sea level.

We recommend because:

  • Over 500 participants transform the glacier into a breathtaking live scenario
  • Snow groomers become elephants, airplanes circle over the ice and pyrotechnics light up the night
  • the combination of historical epic and state-of-the-art technology at 3,000 meters above sea level is unique in the world

Description

As dusk falls over the Rettenbachferner, you are immersed in a world of ice, fire and thrilling music. The performance stages the Carthaginian procession over the Alps with an intensity that is otherwise only seen in Hollywood blockbusters. Between runway rollers, parachutists and modern lighting effects, you can feel the epic energy of this historic moment up close. Let yourself be carried away by the choreography and enjoy an event that blurs the boundaries between reality and show. Pack your warm clothes and be there when the glacier shakes!

25 years of Hannibal: The book

The book accompanying the glacier spectacle captures the staging of Hannibal in Sölden in pictures and text. The illustrated book offers insights into the realization of this event on the Rettenbachferner. The book will be available from the end of February 2026 for € 45 via lorenzi@soelden.at or via lawine@torren.at
