Event Nordkette Vertical

Cross-country to the Seegrube - or rather, vertically up to the Seegrube: whoever manages this on foot can call themselves the Nordkettenkaiser or -kaiserin.

Description

The Nordkette Vertical Trailrun is an annual mountain race from Innsbruck up to the Seegrube. The 6.7-kilometre route over 1,332 vertical metres on steep trails and alpine paths demands a lot from participants in terms of both fitness and technique. The runners start at the Löwenhaus station of the Hungerburgbahn, cross the Inn, run past the Alpenzoo to the Hungerburg. Then the steep cable car ascent to Seegrube begins.

The "Stairway to heaven" is a classic in the last third of the route. The fastest trail runners are awarded the title of Nordkettenkaiser and Nordkettenkaiserin.
