FIS PARA Snowboard World Cup in Kühtai
The TI Snow team, together with the FIS PARA World Cup coordinator and the Kühtai mountain railways, has selected an ideal slope for the Banced Cross Slalom, which perfectly meets the requirements of this World Cup event.
Para Snowboarding is a very young, up-and-coming sport and was featured for the first time at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. In this discipline, athletes with impairments of the lower and upper limbs compete exclusively against one another in a race against the clock. Athletes with leg amputations use a prosthesis when practising their sport. Maintaining balance poses a particular challenge for athletes with impairments of the upper limbs.
In the Banced Cross Slalom, athletes navigate a course featuring steep turns, bumps and jumps. They have three attempts to qualify for the final, with the fastest run counting towards the final score.
With World Cup stops all over the world (Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Canada), it is the first competition of its kind in Austria in this young, up-and-coming sport.
