Event Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail

St. Leonhard im Pitztal, from 31. Jul 2026 until 02. Aug 2026

The trails in the Pitztal are challenging: on steep climbs and stony paths, skill and luck levels increase at the same time. That's why the starting places are so coveted.

We recommend because:

  • the sunrise on the Pitztal Glacier is etched in your memory
  • top sporting achievements are properly celebrated here
  • there are environmentally friendly shuttle services for participants

Description

Seven distances from 8 to 100 kilometers in high alpine terrain await runners on the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail, starting in Mandarfen in the Pitztal valley. Elite and sporty amateur trail runners tackle scenic trails up to the 3000-meter mark on the glacier. Every year, the route takes in striking sections such as the Mittelbergferner, the Braunschweiger Hütte, the Mittagskogel or through the Taschachschlucht gorge.

Sure-footedness and a head for heights are a prerequisite. If you are starting from the medium distances, for example with the "P45-Glacier Trail", you should have experience in alpine trail running and marathon running for the approximately 45 kilometers and 2,900 meters of altitude. The most difficult route is more than 100 kilometers long and challenges extreme trail runners with a total of 6,000 vertical meters.

Children from 3 to 12 years old can burn off energy on an obstacle course on the "P Kids Circuit", while young trail runners from 14 to 23 years old can run around 8 kilometers and 640 vertical meters on the "P Young Talents Race".

Meanwhile, spectators can look forward to a supporting program in the valley with a food festival, expos and symposium.

In 2025, the Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail will be part of the renowned Golden Trail World Series.
