The riders have more than 700 kilometers and 14,700 meters of altitude to conquer during the 5-day Tour of the Alps, including tough mountain classifications. The international field of participants promises exciting days of racing. For many racing bike stars, the transnational tour through Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino is the last chance to hone their form before the Giro d'Italia and it is hard to imagine the European road cycling calendar without it. With two stage starts in North Tyrol, there will be fantastic impressions of the landscape and plenty of inspiration for amateur cyclists to follow.
The Tour of the Alps is an international professional cycling race of the UCI ProSeries and takes place annually in spring. In five challenging stages, the tour leads through the Alpine Euregio Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino and combines top sporting performance with impressive mountain landscapes.
Over around 760 kilometers and more than 14,000 meters of altitude, top international teams compete in short, intense stages with steep climbs and spectacular Alpine passes. The tour is regarded as an important test of form for the major tours and also stands for cross-border cooperation, regional identity and living Alpine culture.
