The triathlon in Kirchbichl is one of the oldest triathlon events in Austria. Athletes have been taking on the challenge in the Hohe Salve region for more than 40 years.
Both amateur athletes and professionals compete in the Kirchbichl triathlon. The start and finish are located at Kirchbichl lido, which becomes the meeting point for participants and spectators during the event.
The athletes complete the classic three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. The sprint triathlon involves a 750-metre swim, around 20 kilometers of cycling and 5.2 kilometers of running. There is also the Olympic distance with around 1.4 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10.4 kilometers of running.
There are also aquathlon events that combine swimming and running: Children can take part in the Kids Aquathlon, and there is the TRIWomen Aquathlon especially for women without much training experience.
