The Alpe Stubental is located at 1,284 m in Jungholz.
It is a somewhat complicated, but very interesting story:
A certain Hermann Häselein is to blame for everything. Almost 700 years ago, on June 24, 1342, Jungholz was mentioned for the first time in a contract of sale for the purchase of the Jungholz area and the buyer, Heinz Lochpühler, came from the Tannheim Valley, which had been united with Tyrol under Archduke Siegmund. According to the legal custom of the Allgäu at that time, the land buyer was liable to pay taxes to Tannheim. This continued for generations and so, against all geographical odds, the area came to belong to Tyrol, where it has remained to this day despite fierce border disputes in the 15th and 18th centuries.
