Description

The Karröster Alm, at a moderate height of 1468 meters, offers an idyllic retreat with homemade cakes and cold specialties. While you relax on the sun terrace, you can observe the young cattle grazing on the alpine meadows and enjoy the tranquility of the mountainous world. The ascent to the Alm partly follows a forest road and partly meandering shady forest paths. Along the way, beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding mountains regularly unfold. Particularly fascinating are the hidden entrances of former mines, which are discreetly nestled in the rocks and remind of the mining history of the region. The Alm is an ideal starting point for extensive hikes, for example to the summit of Tschirgant. It is also a popular destination for mountain bikers looking for the challenge of steep ascents.

Starting Point
After the settlement in Karrösten, there is a parking opportunity on the forest road leading up to Karröster Alm.
From there, the geological educational trail leads along a forest path to the Alm, passing remnants of the old mining, known as Knappenlöcher.
