If someone asks us where the most convenient place to go shopping in Tyrol is, our answer is usually: "Well, the nearest shopping centre!" The modern, bright shopping centres that can be found in all regions of Tyrol are an ideal alternative in bad weather. You can find everything you need under one roof. They invite you to stroll around and try things out, they entertain with events, markets and children's programmes and are also very communicative places with service providers, cafés and restaurants. The DEZ in the east of the provincial capital of Innsbruck is the classic shopping centre in Tyrol. It was opened in 1970 - in fact as the first shopping centre of its kind in the whole of Austria - and now the DEZ (short for "The Shopping Centre") is home to more than 130 shops on an area of 33,000 m². No matter whether you are looking for a trendy item of clothing, a new laptop or a cosy sofa: There's a pretty good chance that you'll find what you're looking for at the DEZ.

The traditional shopping centre in Maria-Theresien-Straße is a must-see in Innsbruck. Since it was built in 1908, the Bauer & Schwarz department stores', as it was known at the time, was considered the most magnificent department stores' in Tyrol. With the new building (designed by British star architect David Chipperfield) and the reopening in 2010, it was possible to build on this glamorous past. Kaufhaus Tyrol stands for urbanity and openness and, with around 50 shops and restaurants on six floors, is also a popular meeting place in the centre of Innsbruck.

Opposite the Kaufhaus Tyrol department stores', the Rathausgalerien invites you to go shopping. The invitingly bright building is not only home to Innsbruck's town hall, but is also a popular shopping arcade with numerous boutiques, cafés and restaurants. So if you get hungry after shopping for shoes, trying on clothes and buying decorations, you can stay right in the Rathausgalerien.

Sillpark is located just a few metres behind the main railway station, on the eponymous River Sill. More than 50 shops, service providers and restaurants on three floors provide a colourful shopping mix and a diverse culinary offering. In addition, regular events and markets on the forecourt and in Sillpark itself enliven the largest shopping centre in Innsbruck's city centre.

The West shopping centre in Innsbruck's Höttinger Au district has a special feature: It combines education and retail under one roof. The "West", as the locals casually call the building, houses both a grammar school and a branch of the Volkshochschule Tirol adult education centre, as well as a shopping centre that mainly covers everyday necessities, but is also home to fashion shops and restaurants.

A few kilometres west of Innsbruck, in the small municipality of Völs, is the Cyta shopping world. The large catchment area from Innsbruck to Telfs regularly ensures hustle and bustle in the more than 100 shops that have set up shop here. Here you can find everything for the household, leisure, sport, the bathroom, the garden and the wardrobe. Thanks to the many cafés and restaurants, Cyta has also become a social meeting place for locals and guests.

The Tyrolean Oberland is very well served by the Inntalcenter in Telfs. Around 40 shops with regional and international brands are located here on 14,500 square metres. Regular farmers' markets, gastronomic festivals and family-friendly events expand the offer and ensure that there is always something going on for young and old in the Inntalcenter.

Even if the term "Fachmarktzentrum" (FMZ for short) sounds a little unwieldy, a visit to this shopping centre in Imst is quite straightforward: Over 70 shops, a cinema and several catering establishments ensure that a visit to the FMZ is entertaining and enjoyable. The regional retail shops and branches of well-known retail chains attract more than two million visitors every year.

From the Oberland to the Unterland to Wörgl, to the M4 shopping centre. In addition to around 40 shops and service providers, M4 is also home to cafés, restaurants, modern cinemas and one of the largest fitness centres in western Austria. The extensive shopping centre is therefore a popular destination for the whole region - whether for everyday errands or an extended shopping trip.

Since 2012, the Stadtgalerien Schwaz have enriched the shopping landscape in Tyrol. Together with the SZentrum event centre, which was built at the same time, the Stadtgalerien have become a popular meeting place in the region. In addition to a large grocery shop, the modern shopping centre also offers fashion boutiques, household items, accessories, cosmetics and a wide range of restaurants.

The Kitz Galleria, which connects the Gries district with the Kitzbühel pedestrian zone with its shopping arcade, describes itself as the "department stores' to the city". The small but exquisite shopping centre presents exclusive boutiques as well as more affordable fashion shops on five floors. You should definitely take care of your feet when strolling through the passage: On the so-called "Walk of Kitz", the names of great sports legends such as Franz Beckenbauer and Toni Sailer are immortalised on stones in the floor.
