Haiming | Simmering | Multi-pitch routes
In addition to many sport climbing routes, there are also numerous well-protected multi-pitch routes on Simmering. However, the rock is not always solid, so wearing a helmet is essential. While the highway noise slightly disrupts the otherwise beautiful atmosphere, climbing is generally enjoyable.
An agreement with hunters prohibits climbing between October 31 and December 31 due to chamois hunting. Outside this period, climbing is usually possible even on warm winter days.
Construction Notice:
Due to the TIWAG power plant construction, access to the Simmering climbing area will be restricted starting Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The Oktopus sector is permanently closed. However, the Sandbank, Aquarium, Lagune, Plankton, Koralle, and Grauer Pfeiler sectors remain accessible via the forest road from Silz (entrance north of Crazy Eddy after the highway overpass).
Hiking distance from Crazy Eddy: approx. 1.5 km
Important: Construction work and blasting will take place near the climbing area, leading to noise and dust.
