Due to a rockfall, a new, safe route for hikers is now in effect. The route up to the Schönwieshütte is accessible by mountain and e-bikes. From there, it continues on foot only. The new route (closure) is in place for the safety of all guests.
A gorgeous panoramic via ferrata in the middle of the Obergurgl glacier world.
Although the climb is missing specific difficulties, it is due to its alpine altitude and its exposure to the north quite demanding and requires via ferrata experience. There are sufficiently enough footholds and two emergency exits which are marked even taking a shortcut of the route is possible.
In the easy parts (A-B) you gather your strength for the short and difficult ascents (C/D). The prominent grassy ledge after the first third invites for a break or you can even exit here.
350 meters in elevation (2.410 - 2.760m) and 700 meters climbing. Ca. 3 hours. With descent to the Langalereck Hütte 4 hours.
From Obergurgl you reach the Langtalereck Hut within 2,5 hours. From there you follow the path 35 towards Hochwilde Haus and you reach the entry of the via ferrata after about 20 minutes (look for the signposting).
