Description

The route via the Haflinger village of Ebbs and Walchsee is perfect as a ‘warm-up’. Continue via Kössen and St. Johann until you get to the foot of the Kitzbüheler Horn. The steepest cycling mountain in Austria with an average of 12.5 % gradient challenges you to a duel. From Goinger Alm the serpentine bends which are 16 - 22% gradient require a great deal of power. Real mountain climbers can, from Alpenhaus (1670m), still tackle the 3 km traffic-free route to the Gipfelhaus with climbs of 25%. Head down carefully on the same route. From St. Johann you get to return via Gasteig and Walchsee – relatively flat and quick; ideal for riding at a nicer cadence and for ruminating over your victory.
