Tranquil alpine romance and an impressive summit hike come together on this panoramic tour in the Wildschönau to create a fantastic mountain experience.
Easy summit hike from the Schönangeralm cheese dairy to the Breiteggspitze. In between: romantic mountain trails with many natural beauties such as moorland meadows and a romantic plateau with small mountain ponds. The Breiteggalm is also worth a visit and offers rustic refreshments. From there, the trail leads across alpine meadows and past idyllic resting places to the Breiteggspitze. Descend over the long ridge of the Hengstkogel to the end of the valley and then back to the cheese dairy.

This hike starts behind the Schönangeralm cheese dairy and leads from there via trail no. 4 through a forest towards Breitegg. First you reach the Breiteggalm. Continue over a small ditch to the Breiteggalm Hochleger. The bench above the pasture at the cross and fountain is ideal for a short break. A plain with a few small mountain ponds lies between the pasture, the ascent and the summit.
The view from the summit is directly onto the Großer Beil, the wide valley of the Wildschönau and on the other side onto the rear mountains of the Kelchsau and the mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps.
From the Breiteggspitze, turn left towards the end of the valley to the Siedeljoch (no. 32). The path is relatively flat and pleasant to walk.
The hiking route leads through a mountain pine field. From the Siedljoch, take forest road no. 52 back to the Schönangeralm starting point.
Tip:The hiking bus runs to the Schönangeralm from the end of May to mid-October.
