Tranquil alpine romance and an impressive summit hike come together on this panoramic tour in the Wildschönau to create a fantastic mountain experience.
Easy summit hike from the Schönangeralm cheese dairy to the Breiteggspitze. In between: romantic mountain trails with many natural beauties such as moorland meadows and a romantic plateau with small mountain ponds. The Breiteggalm is also worth a visit and offers rustic refreshments. From there, the trail leads across alpine meadows and past idyllic resting places to the Breiteggspitze. Descend over the long ridge of the Hengstkogel to the end of the valley and then back to the cheese dairy.
The Breiteggspitz has one of the best views of the wide valley of the Wildschönau.
This hike starts behind the Schönangeralm and leads from there via path number 4 through a forest in the direction of Breitegg. First you reach the Breiteggalm. Over a small ditch we continue to Breiteggalm Hochleger. The bench above the Alm at the cross and fountain is ideal for a short break. A plain with some small mountain ponds is still between the Alm, the ascent and the summit.
The view from the summit is directed directly to the Großer Beil, the wide valley of the Wildschönau and on the other side to the rear mountains of the Kelchsau and the mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps. From the Breiteggspitz turn left towards the end of the valley. Over the Siedeljoch we continue on the ridge path no. 32. The path is relatively flat and pleasant to walk. The hiking route leads through a mountain pasture. From the Siedljoch, take the forest road no. 52 back to the starting point Schönangeralm.
TIP: in the period from the end of May to mid-October the hiking bus runs to the Schönangeralm.
