The upper Sommerwandsee is the epitome of mountain idyll, situated at the foot of the Sommerwandferner.
From the Franz Senn Hut, hike in the direction of the Vordere Sommerwand. To the left of the north ridge, you pass the Sommerwand. Here you lose sight of the hut because the marked trail continues on the southern flank of the Vordere Sommerwand. Now leave this path and walk over boulders and sheep pasture to the left to reach the small lake. An idyllic place in absolutely quiet surroundings. From here, you have the option of ascending to the nearby Sommerwandferner.
