Mountain railway Pitztaler Gletscherbahn & Rifflsee

During the summer months the Pitztal Glacier around the Rifflsee lake offers a stunning backdrop for exploring the flora and fauna of the Alps. This six-man gondola transports passengers from the bottom station in Mandarfen up to 2,300 metres above sea level. The top of the cable car is the starting point for many hikes such as the one around Austria's highest lake, the Rifflsee. This unique body of water has a special highlight in summer: rafting! As you travel around the lake you will learn about the history and culture of this valley in the west of Tirol. The Rifflseehütte and the Sunna Alm guesthouses both serve traditional local food, while ambitious hikers will find plenty of summits to conquer on foot.
