The Hochschoberhütte (2,322 meters) in the Schober group in East Tyrol is recommended as a day destination and base for tours in the Hohe Tauern.
Charming mountain hut for Hochschober climbers
ÖAV mountain hut, Edelweiss section
The tour to the Hochschober is of course a must if you have hiked to the Hochschoberhütte. After all, the charming and quaint hut in the upper Leibnitz Valley is the ideal starting point for a detour to this beautiful panoramic mountain. As part of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Schober group has remained a pristine mountain landscape, which is appreciated by tourers and excursionists. The hut itself is open from around mid-June to mid-September. It offers 50 places, mainly in mattress dormitories, and scores with delicious home cooking. The ecological clay wall sauna is unique. Opened in 1986, the Hochschoberhütte is the second building on this site. The old hut from 1922 burned down in 1983 after a fire in the winter room.
