A day's skiing in the Wildschönau is not particularly wild but all the more beautiful for it. The Wildschönau and Alpbachtal, two pleasure regions, have joined forces to create a total of 114 kilometers of slopes and have rightly named themselves Ski Juwel.
When the two ski areas of Alpbachtal and Wildschönau in the western Kitzbühel Alps were connected a few years ago, a winter sports arena was created that offers families in particular a wide variety of slopes across several mountains. Blue and red runs can be found in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau as well as black runs and freeride routes. Boarders won't miss out either - there are three snow parks.
Although the range of slopes and the number of lifts are large, skiing in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal-Wildschönau is comparatively stress-free. In the two ski kindergartens, well-trained supervisors take care of the little ones, in the five ski schools they are taught the basics of snow sports, and in the Alpbachtal and Schatzberg Family Park snow parks there are beginner lines that even the youngsters can try out. The highest point of the ski area is the Top of Alpbachtal viewing tower at 2,030 meters above sea level.
A total of more than 20 restaurants and huts cater for winter sports enthusiasts. And almost all the slopes can now be covered with artificial snow - just in case Mother Hulda goes on strike.
