The St. Jakob ski center in Defereggen Valley not only scores with its views of the Großglockner and Großvenediger. The ski resort in East Tyrol is a real insider tip with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

We recommend because:

  • Pleasantly large, family-friendly ski area with modern infrastructure for a peaceful day's skiing
  • particularly beautiful mountain panorama with three thousand meter peaks
  • more fun for freestylers in the snow park

Description

Deep in the idyllic East Tyrolean Defereggen Valley, on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, lies the family-friendly St. Jakob im Defereggental ski center. Here you are far away from the hustle and bustle of the masses, skiing with views of countless mighty three-thousand-metre peaks is a pure pleasure and there are no queues at the lifts. Due to its altitude of between 1,400 and 2,683 meters, snow is guaranteed from the end of November to April.

The network of pistes is manageable, but offers good conditions for all ages and abilities. Winter sports enthusiasts are greeted at the valley station by a large children's and beginners' area with practice and drag lifts. Freestylers and boarders can enjoy themselves at the middle station in the "defRaggn" snow park, while speed enthusiasts can let off steam on the race course.

The new Leppleskofel 6-seater chairlift with heated premium seats and weather hoods is a special added value for the ski center. It runs from the valley station of the former Almspitz lift up to 2,683 meters, making it the highest cable car in the whole of East Tyrol. At the same time, three new runs have been added to the range of pistes, making the ski area even more attractive and varied - ideal for making the most of the wide slopes with impressive panoramic views.

Several cozy huts provide refreshments, inviting you to linger with typical East Tyrolean specialties and sun terraces.
