PKW über die Fahrstrasse bis zur Schönangeralm
The ski tour to the Breiteggspitze leads across open alpine meadows and through snow-covered forests. During the ascent, the view opens up to the surrounding peaks of the Kitzbühel Alps and the head of the Wildschönau Valley.
The hike to the Breiteggspitze is not very technically demanding and is therefore particularly suitable for beginners or those who simply want to enjoy the hike. The ascent follows the well-marked summer trail for the most part and is easy to navigate throughout, provided snow conditions are favorable; alternatively, you can take the forest road. With an elevation gain of about 800 meters, the route is moderate and requires a solid level of basic fitness. The route alternates between peaceful forest sections and open alpine meadows, and navigation remains straightforward. Only the final ascent to the summit becomes slightly steeper, but it remains easily manageable. The descent follows the same route as the ascent—alternatively, from the Breitegg-Hochleger, you can descend directly across the meadow slopes to the forest road and follow it to the Schönanger Inn, which invites you to stop for a cozy break. If the route is followed as described, it is rarely at risk of avalanches and is frequently used. West-facing.
This counts as an easy tour and is especially lovely just after fresh snowfall. Enjoy fantstic panoramic views of the Kitzbühel Alps from the peak. Low avalanche danger.
