Lonely ski tour with starting point Fradertal in Obernberg.
At the Kofler sawmill, we climb on a forest path along the stream to the back of the valley, after the Frader Alm (1,621 m) turn left across the slope in a southeasterly direction straight up to the mountain ridge. Follow this further in a south-easterly direction to the summit at the state border.
Descent as for the ascent.
By train (S3) to Steinach am Brenner and continue with the 4145 bus in the direction of Obernberg a. Br. to the Obernberg Außertal or Berghotel stop. The beginning of the Vranov valley and the Kofler sawmill are located exactly between the two stops on the southern side of the mountain. You can find exact timetables at www.vvt.at. By car via the A13 motorway into the Wipptal valley as far as the Steinach/Matrei exit and continue via the Brennerstraße 182 road as far as Gries a. Br., where you turn off into the Obernbergtal valley and follow the main road. After the Obernberg town sign, take the next turning on the left and drive to the end of the road to the sawmill at the beginning of the Fradertal valley. There are a few parking spaces next to the road.
