Description

The Alatsee is located on Bavarian territory, but can be reached easily and in a very short time from Vils on foot or by bike via the Vilser Scharte. The large sunbathing lawn on the north-west shore is a popular destination for sun worshippers and bathing mermaids in summer.

There are numerous legends, myths and stories about the Alatsee. One of them claims that a gold treasure was sunk in it at the end of the Second World War.
