Trail running Zireiner See & Latschberg Trail 24K

24 km, 1,600 m of ascent and alpine trails: via Bayreuther Hütte and Latschberg to Lake Zireiner See, then through Totengraben back to Kramsach.

Description

The route starts in the Wittberg district of Kramsach. Following the Forstmeile and climbing via Hilariberg, the trail continues on forest roads past Kaltes Wasser and Herrgottstein to Pletzachalm. From there, the route climbs to Bayreuther Hütte and follows a hiking trail towards Zireiner Alm. The terrain now becomes much steeper, with a demanding trail leading up to Latschberg. But the route is not finished yet: it descends again to Lake Zireiner See, circles the mountain lake and then climbs to Rosswiese. A trail descent leads towards Kreuzeinalm, followed by a longer, relatively flat but technically demanding section through Totengraben to Hochalm. The final descent follows the old ski slope past Klosteralm, returning via Kaltes Wasser to the starting point in Wittberg. With 24 km and 1,600 m of ascent, this is a demanding route for experienced trail runners.
