The Auenweg in Niederau is just the right loop if you want to get out into nature without too much effort: only 1 km, easy in 30 minutes, almost flat - and really beautiful. You can take a relaxed stroll along a small stream, take a break on one of the many benches and the kids will love the playground in the middle of the path. Extra nice: the medicinal plant nature trail tells you along the way which herbs grow here - and what they are good for.
The Auenweg Niederau is a short, relaxed valley walk - perfect for a short break in between or as a family-friendly loop with a baby carriage. From the start at the "Wanderbuch" below the Markbachjoch gondola lift (near Hotel Sonnschein), you first walk briefly through the village, then the path branches off after a small bridge into the meadow landscape. From here, you take a pleasantly peaceful walk along a babbling brook - with plenty of benches to take a breather and a playground roughly in the middle of the trail, which makes the route particularly child-friendly.
There is also a medicinal plant nature trail along the way: boards explain which herbs and plants grow here and what they are traditionally used for. The route leads back past the Klausenhof farm and along the road back to the starting point. The tour is accessible all year round; in winter, the path is salted if necessary. If you still haven't had enough after the short loop, you can continue up to the Foisching snack station (an additional 100 meters in altitude, somewhat steeper on asphalt) - a sun terrace and often a view of a herd of red deer in the large enclosure await you at the top.
The route begins at Hotel Sonnschein in Niederau. Not too far from there is the Auenweg, a lovely walk along a small stream. About half way along is a new playground. Parent can relax on one of the rustical benches and admire the views of the Markbachjoch and the colourful paragliders. The walk can be extended up to the Foisching mountain restaurant an it's small deer park.
The healing effects of herbs and plants are widely known, and herbs against all kinds of ailments also grow in the Wildschönau.
