After the first bend, the well-signposted trail leads winter hikers out of the valley (view of Mayrhofen), past the Gschößwandhaus, to the valley station of the Penken combined lift of the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen (Bergrast, Pilzbar).
On a route of 4.7 km there are 190 metres of altitude difference uphill and 230 metres of altitude difference downhill, walking time 1.5 hours.
After a short gondola ride with the Penken combined lift, the WinterWanderWeg Penken continues to Penkenjoch 2,095 m, between Kasermandl and Lärchwaldhütte, over the first ascent, passing below the Panorahma restaurant, to the Garnet Chapel on the Penken sun plateau.
Over a length of 2 km, you have to climb 100 metres in altitude, walking time 45 min.
From the mountain station of the Finkenberger Almbahnen - Section 2 - Penkenjoch you can comfortably return to the valley in gondolas (1 change at the middle station).
