Description

This flat winter hiking trail at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser runs mostly parallel to the Kaiserloipe, which truly lives up to its name. You always have the Wilder Kaiser in view. The winter hiking trail is also perfectly suited for families with sleds.
You start in the village center at the hiking starting point and walk towards the Kaisergebirge until you reach the bus stop Ellmau Dorf/Bauhof.
Then turn right to the cross-country skiing and winter hiking starting point. From here, follow the winter hiking trail leisurely eastwards to the farms in the district of Hausbach. Here, keep left, cross the Wochenbrunnweg and hike along the edge of the forest on the groomed winter hiking trail heading west. Once you arrive at the Kaiserbad, you can refresh yourself at the restaurant there. Then continue on the winter hiking trail heading west. When you reach the road, follow it a short distance to the left and turn left again at the second house onto the groomed winter hiking trail. Continue on this path heading east. Now you have the Wilder Kaiser in all its glory before you. Passing the Reiterbauer and the clubhouse of the golf club with the Restaurant Sonneck, the loop closes and you walk back to the village center.

Special features along the way:
On the numerous benches along the winter hiking trail, you can take a short break and repeatedly enjoy the wonderful views of the village of Ellmau and the Wilder Kaiser as well as the rays of sunshine.
As a pedestrian, you can also accompany cross-country skiers for part of the way and meet up later for a refreshment stop.
