We have to be honest: Although the Hohe Mut Alm in Obergurgl has long been one of our favourite huts, we only discovered the deckchairs below the large panoramic terrace a few weeks ago. It's a wonderful place to linger with a view of the Ötztal mountains.
I wonder if Daniel Craig had time to relax a little on this cosy and stylish sun terrace in the Sölden ski resort during the shooting of the James Bond film SPECTRE?
In the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area, 19 wellness stations invite you to take a break. Even though there is no catering here, these loungers are perfect for taking off your skis, switching off and enjoying the sun.
The Verwallstube at 2,085 metres is one of the highest gourmet restaurants in Europe. Caroline von Monaco also sits here in the sun when she is on holiday on the Arlberg. We're not surprised: the view is simply marvellous and chef Matthias Weinhuber's fish soup is a dream.
Everything is a bit bigger in Ischgl: the mountains, the ski area and most of the ski huts. Our tip: the Videralp. It's rather small and cosy inside, but there are plenty of benches and deckchairs outside the door.
The name says it all: the Berggasthof Sonnbühel is a popular "sunny spot" in the Kitzbühel ski area.
Another great tip is the Granatalm in Mayrhofen. The speciality there: grilled chicken fresh from the spit.
Whenever we go skiing in Hochzillertal, we can't get past the Kristallhütte. Getting up from the couch is particularly difficult...
And last but not least, our favourite sunny spot in our capital city: the Seegrube on Innsbruck's Nordkette mountain range. Even when the city is already submerged in the shadows of the mountains, the sun is still shining up here. The igloo bar "Cloud 9" stands out from the typical après-ski locations, the atmosphere is relaxed and you can get up there from the city centre in just 30 minutes on the Nordkette cable cars. At the top, a distant view of the glaciers and across the Inn and Wipp valleys awaits in the sunshine.
Of course, the Sonnenalm is also one of our favourite sunny spots - it's not called that for nothing. Up here in the tranquil Füssener Jöchle ski area of the Tannheimer Bergbahnen cable car company, you can soak up the sun in comfort and enjoy the distant views from the Allgäu lakes to the Tyrolean Alps. Add to this a regional dish on the table and a ray of sunshine on your face, and your day's skiing may well end in an extended break in the sun.
Austria's highest mountain - the Großglockner - and 60 other three-thousand metre peaks as an impressive panoramic backdrop, warming spring sunshine and a reserved sun lounger to boot. At the Adlerlounge in the Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei, you will find everything you need for a picture-book day of skiing in the sun. The ski hut immediately catches the eye with its special architecture and exceptional cuisine - but of course we also serve our much-loved Kaiserschmarrn pancakes in the classic style.
The Hecherhaus has perhaps the most beautiful sun terrace high above the Inntal valley. Situated at the highest point of the cosy Kellerjoch ski area, it overlooks the entire Inntal valley. Here you can enjoy pure sunshine and a culinary speciality: the landlord comes from Nepal and surprises with specialities from his homeland in addition to Tyrolean classics. A little insider tip: If you haven't soaked up enough sun here, you should take a seat on the terrace of the Biohotel Grafenast next to the valley station for dessert. This terrace (and the curd cheese dumplings) are not bad either...
