"Mum, it looks like Norway." And indeed: down there is the Tyrolean fjord - Lake Achensee. The Rofanbahn cable car took everyone - mums, dads, children, neighbours' children and cuddly toys - to the top. After a hike of a good half hour - with the usual research programme at every flower, every bug and every stone - there it is: the Grubastiege.
A place for young climbers and anyone who is getting their hands on Tyrolean rock for the first time. Well-secured routes, moderate levels of difficulty between three and six. Here, children can try out slab climbing and carefully feel their way to their first lead climb. Everything is embedded in alpine meadows that feel like a soft box seat for the climbing show.
And before we take the cable car back down to the valley, the most important question of the day comes up:
"Mum, does the cocoa up here taste just as good as down here?"
A test that we like to carry out at the Erfurter Hütte.
Tip for another time: The climbing areas - Grubaplatte, Grubastiege and Mauritzalm - are practically child's play to reach from the Rofanbahn mountain station. There is also a small practice via ferrata at the top of the Rofan. Topos and information on many family climbing areas are available free of charge on Climbers Paradise.

Because swimming is known to make you hungry, a day at the lake naturally requires a good snack. Even if the water of our choice (which, to be honest, is usually either the Hechtsee lake in Kufstein) has good restaurants, nothing beats a handful of freshly picked strawberries in between. Luckily, some of the strawberry fields are in the Inn Valley and therefore directly on the way to a refreshing day of swimming.

My personal favourite ski tour is the tour to the Faltegartenköpfl with a stop at the Feldringalm. The route leads through beautiful, unspoilt terrain and remains safe and relaxed even in fresh snow thanks to its very flat course. And the best comes at the end: there is incredibly delicious food at the Feldringalm - for me, this is always the highlight after an already fantastic tour.

My personal favourite place is the Schleier waterfall in Tux. It has an almost magical effect, especially in autumn: the rushing water, the fresh autumn air and the golden colours all around create an atmosphere that you won't forget in a hurry. For me, it's a place where you immediately come to rest and marvel at the same time. Anyone experiencing Tyrol in autumn should definitely visit this impressive place - it shows how beautiful and powerful nature can be here.

There are times when everyday life whistles around my ears so quickly and loudly that I urgently need to slow down. No summit victory, no water action, no, not even a visit to my favourite restaurant helps. I can only muffle the noise of rush hour in the forest. The air is sweet and woody, the paths are narrow and steep (we are in Tyrol after all) and the play of light on the moss-covered ground is simply beautiful, so wandering aimlessly grounds me more than anything else. I particularly enjoy walking in the Telfer meadows and the pine forest in Haiminger Forchet in autumn.

Every time I climb in Oberried in Längenfeld in the Ötztal, I am reminded of my wonderful early climbing days. I spent many days here, climbing routes that were easy and routes that were difficult. I had balanced picnics with my rope partners and watched the cows graze. It's simply a wonderful place to spend time! Oberried attracts people of all ages - many families also come here to climb with their children. No wonder, because the base of the wall is safe and clear, and the playground on the meadow in front of the rock face offers the little ones a real change of pace.
What I like so much about Oberried and the Ötztal as a climber is the good rock quality with the best gneiss. With difficulties ranging from 3a to 7c (most routes are in the 5a-6b range), there are enough routes for children, but also for ambitious adults. Oberried is a real favourite place for a nice summer climbing day - even without children.

My very special tip for anyone who wants to enjoy a warm and friendly holiday: the Hotel Weisseespitze. What I love about this hotel is the friendliness and warmth with which you are greeted - you immediately feel welcome. The local cuisine with regional specialities brings Tyrolean enjoyment directly to your plate and stands for a real sense of well-being after an excursion. I find it particularly impressive how much thought has been given to accessibility - from the hotel itself to the entire surrounding area in the Kaunertal. For me, this shows that holidays in Tyrol really can be for everyone.

In Tyrol, we have the better Berlin, I say. Our Berlin is wild, unspoilt, in places magnificent and quite unpredictable (well, the latter probably also applies to real Berlin). Nevertheless! You'll find our Berlin - how could it be otherwise - in the mountains, of course.
From one to seven overnight stays in huts, the Berlin High Trail is just as long as you want it to be. If you don't want to do the whole section, I recommend starting at the Schlegeisspeicher and beginning with stage 5 - because while the first ones are already giving up, the most beautiful part of the tour begins here, subject to the glaciated Zillertal Alps.
Highlights: Architecture of the Berliner Hütte. Sunrises at the glacier tongues. Bathing pools at the Greizer Hütte. Kaiserschmarren variations at the Kasseler Hütte. And a new good reason every day!

...or road biking, (e-)mountain biking or leisure cycling. No matter which bike you use to make your way to the Gurgltal valley between Nassereith and Imst: The valley welcomes all cycling enthusiasts with surprising beauty and excellently laid out cycle paths. The Gurglbach stream accompanies you for most of the way. Lush meadows spread out to the left and right, scattered with countless hay barns. Benches and beautiful riverside spots tempt you to take a break. On the last few kilometres before Imst, you suddenly roll through a gently rolling landscape that reminded me of the land of the hobbits.
My recommendation: include the section through the Gurgltal valley in the exciting loop around the Tschirgant massif. Then you will also discover a wonderful part of the Inn Cycle Path and quiet side roads beneath the limestone giants of the Mieminger Kette.

My absolute favourite for a special culinary experience in Tyrol is Bistro Höll in Pfaffenhofen. For me, what makes the visit so special is that the owners wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and have created something of their own here in the tranquillity of the mountains. The Mediterranean-inspired cuisine with fresh seafood, grilled octopus and dry-aged steaks is a dream, and it's all served in a warm, uncomplicated atmosphere where you immediately feel welcome. For me, Bistro Höll is a place where excellent food, passion and nature come together perfectly - an absolute must for any visit to Tyrol.
