Winter Attractions

Skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing and hiking are great fun, but holidays are also a great chance to try something new. We have put together a list with some of the best alternative activities in the region, from alpine coasters and adventure pools to dairy farms open to the public.

Visitors who venture down into the network of subterranean shafts and tunnels making up the former silver mine in Schwaz enter a world without seasons. Far below ground the temperature stays a constant 12°C all year round, even on the coldest winter days. Attractions like this are a great alternative to skiing and snowboarding, which can sometimes leave you feeling tired and longing for a break. Many of the most popular attractions in Tirol are open in winter. During the cold months of the year visitors can enjoy thermal baths, adventure pools and saunas, but there are also museums, the Ice Palace on the Hintertux Glacier, the Alpine Zoo in Innsbruck, the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens and the region's many beautiful pilgrimage churches.
