Work together with biologists in Ötztal Valley Nature Park and reconnect with nature! The surveying, monitoring and mapping of a rare and endangered species of ant is essential to gather information for research projects.
Formica exsecta (the narrow-headed ant or excised wood ant) is a rare and endangered species of ant found in Upper Ötztal Valley near Vent and Obergurgl. This volunteer project includes performing fieldwork, such as mapping this animal species with the help of GPS devices. Escorted by trained biologists, participants will become actively involved in protecting the narrow-headed ant.
