The best campsites in Tirol

Whichever of the many campsites in Tirol you choose, they all offer stunning views of the Tirolean mountains. Many campsites are also situated by a lake or river, making them particularly popular destinations in summer.

It’s not just children, but adults too who enjoy the refreshing atmosphere that a campsite by the water offers.

From simple and close to nature to modern and luxurious – Tirol’s more than 80 campsites offer something to suit every taste. As well as spacious pitches, luxury campsites often offer additional accommodation options such as chalets, lodges or glamping tents, and are characterised by modern facilities and a wide range of leisure, wellness and Family Offer activities. They are classified as 4- and 5-star Camping sites and have usually won numerous awards, though they are also a little more expensive. Smaller, simpler Camping sites, on the other hand, appeal with their pitches close to nature, a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere and the feel of traditional Camping.

Many campsites in Tirol cater specifically for families and offer a wide range of leisure activities for children. Camping is generally one of the more affordable ways to holiday. At basic campsites, a couple can easily stay for around 40 euros per night. Of course, prices vary greatly depending on the facilities on offer and the time of year. If you’re looking for a budget holiday and have the option, it’s best to go camping outside the Peak Season.

During peak seasons, it’s always a good idea to book in advance – in Tirol, if a site is full, you can only move to another campsite or pitch. Almost all campsites offer an online booking portal where you can easily see at a glance which pitches are still available. Even if you’re planning a last-minute break, it’s worth at least giving the reception a ring.

Wild camping is prohibited throughout Tirol. Camping is only permitted at campsites and in designated pitches. Even a full campsite does not protect you from a fine.
