The Ehrenberg ruin is part of the historical castle ensemble
Once regarded as an impregnable stronghold, the castle complex was the most important customs station between the northern and southern trade routes. Today, the Klause along with the surrounding castles and fortifications is likely one of the oldest and most significant fortification systems in the northern Tyrolean Pre-Alps.
