District Administration
In the second half of the 18th century, Joseph Carl Falger (1704 - 1777) built the "Zur Gemse" inn here for distinguished travellers. Guests included Emperor Joseph II and Pope Pius VI, who gave his blessing to the locals from the balcony of the house while travelling through in 1782. A memorial on the façade of today's district administration building commemorates this event. The building of the district administration with its strongly structured facade and curved gable dates from the end of the 18th century.
