Ehrenberger Klause (1317) - Soon after the first mention of Ehrenberg in 1317, we learn about the underlying Klause. In addition to its military function as a dam, it also served as a customs post. the hermitage A marble plaque on the north side reminds us that Archduke Maximilian III. the Deutschmeister had this hermitage converted and expanded. Two thirds of the former hermitage are ruins today, but excavations keep revealing new secrets. The remaining part of the hermitage, which is at the center of 18 castles in Tyrol and the Allgäu, has housed a special kind of museum since July 2006.
