The listed chapel was originally built in 1717.

For the annual ceremonial procession in the Kleinsöll hamlet in Breitenbach on the first Sunday after the Sacred Heart procession the Gatterer chapel is especially beautifully decorated. According to an old tradition, the 2nd Gospel is read in front of the chapel on this occasion.
