Description

The mill in Ritzenried is one of the oldest and most impressive buildings in the Pitztal. In old land register documents, a certain Ambrosi Gstrein is mentioned as ‘Millere zu Riezenriedt’ as early as 1650 (probable construction period of the mill). For around 300 years, grain was ground for the neighbouring farmers in the toll mill, until grain cultivation largely disappeared and the miller's trade was no longer profitable. In 2013, the municipality of Jerzens bought the old building, enabling the urgently needed renovation work to be carried out. The mill complex, which has been a listed building since 2018, was restored according to the plans of architect Benedikt Gratl.
