Riedener See
Just a few meters away from the small village of Rieden lies the idyllic Riedener Lake in the forest, a true natural gem. It is home to, among others, Bilek’s Azure Damselfly, an extremely rare species of dragonfly. The lake is very calm and clear, yet it does not freeze in winter. The reason for this is underground springs that provide a constant, but hardly noticeable movement from above. The water of the lake is very high in calcium, which is why it is considered a calcareous spring moor. A nature trail runs around Riedener Lake and explains the numerous peculiarities along the way.
